May Blogging Income Report
This is the very first month and very first income report for Debt and Sweat! I started this blog on May 9th, 2017 and will slowly work to build it and keep track of everything as we go. I really hope at some point it will become a profitable website but I guess this is an experiment and we’ll just have to wait to see how it goes. I’m writing this on the FIRST day of having this website so I have no clue where this journey is about to take me.
I plan on keeping track of all my blog’s expenses and earnings (hopefully there will be at least SOME earnings) as well as what I’ve done to get to each point.

May 2017 Blogging Income Report Review
This whole month was focused on getting the Debt and Sweat up and running. Since I’ve started a blog before, I had a good understanding on how to do this so luckily it didn’t take all that long. You can see my post on how I started my blog for tips for yourself. I had to purchase my domain, transfer DNS names from GoDaddy to my hosting company, install wordpress on my hosting site and then start customizing my site.
Submit domain to Search Engines
No website will be able to make it’s way to visitor’s eyes if it’s not submitted to search engines. This week I submitted Debt and Sweat to Google and Bing. You can follow this link to submit a website to Google.
Added Google Analytics Code
I will be tracking my traffic every month so I needed to install Google Analytics code in order to do so. This was done simply by adding the given code from Google to my header with a free plugin called “Insert Headers and Footers“.
Added A Google AdSense Unit
In order to eventually make money from Google AdSense, I’ve added one ad unit on my sidebar. I’ve made it responsive so that it adjusts to the size of my sidebar no matter what theme I choose in the future. Check out exactly how I set up my Google AdSense ad unit here to make it the most efficient.
The most important thing about blogging is creating quality content. I know that for the first several months..heck years…I’ll need to create high quality content in order for this website to be considered valuable and have return visitors. This month I was able to post my first two posts.

- 5/9/17 – 5/131/17 : 8 Pageviews
I’m actually completely shocked I got any views this month at all! Completely. Shocked. I was assuming there would be zero traffic as it’s a brand new website. I am ecstatic to see 4 unique users who came to debandsweat.com in less than a month. Anyway, yes there was basically no traffic this month but that’s okay because I JUST got it up and running less than a month ago and barely have any content on it yet. Blogs can take MONTHS to start to see any traffic so this is just where I need to sit back, be patient, keep working and trust the process!
It is based on the amount of traffic recorded from users that have the Alexa toolbar installed over a period of three months. This traffic is based on such parameters as reach and page views. The reach refers to the number of Alexa users who visit a particular site in one day.

Google Adsense Earning Report
I have placed one ad on my site through Google Adsense but since I have had close to no traffic this past month, I’ve had no one click on my ad yet which in return produced no earnings. That’s okay though! I’m totally not expecting to see any earnings from AdSense until I can start bringing in some steady traffic. Fingers crossed it will happen SOME DAY!
